About the staff:
Kevin Crosby
The Kevinator is a senior math major here at the University. He will be graduating at
the end of this summer to pursue an undetermined career (He still
has a couple of months to figure it out). His non-academic interests
include competing in almost any sport, politics, and watching the GB
Packers.
Melissa Everson
The Mighty Melissa is a senior and a math major. She wants to be a high school teacher
and to be like Doug. She's a veteran of the University of Minnesota Calc Init, and can dance a Cajun River.
Marc Gutman
Marvelous Marc is an Electrical Engineering Student at the U, who is also getting a
Math Minor and an Art Minor. He really likes Origami and will have an exhibit at the
Nash Gallery starting on the 23rd of June. He also really likes music,
especially Punk, and films, especially Trainspotting, SLC, and Grosse Point Blank.
Justin Jacobs
Jazzy Justin is a fourth year math student here at the
university. He plans on going to Grad school here, and hopes
to obtain a teaching license. When not at work or studying, he likes to
spend his time on or in the lake swimming and of course water skiing.
NamYong Lee
Nerves-of-steel NamYong is currently a pre-postdoc at the U, and is one of
the developers of the Calc Init. He and Dr. Shaw come to SESEM straight off of Math 3106, where they worked
their Abbott and Costelloesque magic for a quarter and had a riotous time.
Chris Olsen
Chimerical Chris is a second year student at the University of Minnesota and a graduate of UMTYMP.
He is a math and physics major and hopes to teach Algebra at the college level. In his free time Chris runs
10Ks and helps write the newsletter for the Interfraternity Council.
Andrea Olson
Here is where one would tease Dr. Olson. Dr. Olson is in charge. It is not wise to tease Dr. Olson.
Doug Shaw
Dynamite Doug is currently a post-postdoc at the U, and is one of
the developers of the Calc Init. He and NamYong Lee come to SESEM straight off of Math 3106, where they worked
their Laurel and Hardyesque magic for a quarter and had a riotous time.
Kellie Simons
Kindly Kellie Simons will be in her third year at the
University of Minnesota in the fall, where she is studying to become a high
school math teacher. She loves musical theater and all kinds of recreational
sports, as well as interacting with other people. She also loves SESEM, and would like to
include a great big thank you to everyone working with the program.
Jason Westrum
Jumpin' Jason is a third year Mechanical Engineering Student at the U, who is an avid broomball
player. He also enjoys motorcyling and pyrotechnics (local and national
guilds). He's pretty laid back, easy to please, and easy going.
