- Read example 6, on page 51.
- Get your hand off that mouse! I said to read the section, and I
meant it.
- Graph y = x - sin x and y = 1 - cos x on your graphing calculator. (If you
don't have it with you, the graphs can be found here,
but it will be more convenient if you have it in front of you while the applet
is going)
- Click "Start" and watch what happens.
- How are the curves y = x - sin x and y = 1 - cos x reflected in the
cycloid you are seeing?
