Mona Lisa Art
Leonardo Da Vinci's La Giaconda is fascinating to me, not because of its art value, but because of the way it has been transformed from a piece of art into a symbol for Great Art. I'm intrigued that it has become such an icon that nobody can actually look at it objectively as an actual painting. I'm not the first person to be so intrigued, nor will I be the last. So, like others before me, I've done some pieces based on her. I'm not the first person to mess with the Mona Lisa, I won't be the last, but there ya go.
It turns out there is a web page of Mona-based art called the Mona Mailart Show, and it is worth a looksee. To my delight, they accepted my Mona Stamp Art (loading below) and put it on display. They say that an Artisan can draw exactly what you see, and that an Artist can make you see exactly what he draws. By those definitions, I am a math professor with a box of crayons.
