Fantastic collection of short stories.

Aimee Bender is the Queen of the first paragraph. Each story has an excellent beginning. Some of them get a bit clever-clever: "Okay, I will make up a weirdass first paragraph and then use my SKILLZ to build a story to match" but many of them aren't like that. And it doesn't really matter, because her use of language and pacing is brilliant. She doesn't just write, she Writes, and does it well.
