I actually read this one with my own eyeballs, and I don't highly recommend it.
Again one which I was eager to read because I'd seen it dramatized and quite liked. And I find it interesting that here were two Miss Marple mysteries that shared characters that were dramatized starring Joan Hickson - one which I'd read and found stupid (Murder in the Carribean) and now this one - which I found quite pleasing to view - and not at all pleasing to read. Both of these books weren't written until the early 1970's...and I found her earlier work much more pleasing. Oh well.
The A&E/BBC version was able to make it a much more interesting presentation with a lot better character development and an additional sub-plot which made it far less of a yawner. I found myself telling myself - only 100 more pages....only 50...only 5...the last two pages took me about 20 minutes to read because I just couldn't care enough not to watch tv rather than to be finially finished.
I wish my 25th book had been a better one...but oh well. I'll keep going just like the rest of you lot because this is quite okay. :+} |
