This book is yet another entry in Anne Rice's interminable "Vampire Chronicles". This one details the life of Marius, who shows up as a character in nearly every vampire books she's written. Hooray for the library, which means I can read books like this and never have to worry about hauling them to the second-hand shop.
It's not too badly written, but after a while the books in the series all seem to be mostly the same: rebirth into life as an undead, followed by how the character spent the next hundreds of years. It IS interesting to read the various character intersections from the various perspectives. (And I guess she doesn't love the word "preternatural" the way she used to - it only appeared a few times in this book.)
I know this isn't much of a review. Being a relatively insubstantial book, it doesn't seem to require much of an in-depth review. It's more like a placeholder to show I've finished 10 books so far. I decided this year I would diligently report EVERY book I read, excepting perhaps instruction manuals. That includes the lightweight junkfood books. |
