Second book in the Ice and Fire Quintology. I didn't enjoy this as much as the first. Probably because I was too lazy to take notes as I read. So there was this army moving here and that army moving there, and sometimes I would just lose track of who was betraying who.
But I still loved the hell out of it. The characters were strong and interesting enough that I didn't have to always keep track of who was on whose side where in order to appreciate the story. There was a confrontation in a jail cell that was two or three pages but for that time the world was blotted out for me.
There was one part that made me yell profanity aloud - that rarely happens when I read. I can say no more about it.
ANYway, a thoroughly good book. I'll be reading the next one. |
