Cosima Noline never felt at home or accepted in her hometown. She is now going back to stay there for a year as a biology teacher at her high school so that she can be near her father, who is aging and starting to have health problems. At the same time, her sister, who she has always felt close to, is leaving for Nicaragua to help farmers learn to handle their crops in the midst of a revolution. Cosima (who goes by Codi) tries to fit in as a teacher, and as a citizen of her hometown, and learns about her past at the same time.
Okay, so this is another Kingsolver book. It's good, but not as good as the Bean Trees. Still, it's interesting, and fun. |
