Thank you again, Melissa, I'll be mailing it back to you.
This is another collection of short stories by Aimee Bender. As I said when I reviewed her last such collection, NOBODY in the world can write a first paragraph of a short story like she can. AND she is able to deliver on the promises made by her stories' starts.
This collection felt a little more like "women's fiction" than the previous one's I read, which were more universal in my opinion. Not all of the stories, but some of them. I didn't mind; I can be a tourist.
Aimee Bender has an amazing imagination, and enough of a grounding in reality that she can take fantastic things and make them seem real. And she is always interesting. |
