this is a biography of sylvia plath, an authoress whose short life and unexpected death have fascinated me for a long time.
anne stevenson is a poet herself, and her appreciation and understanding for the poet's mind and lifestyle shows clearly in this work. regarded as one of the best biographical works on Plath, stevenson takes on an objective, yet insightful approach to the woman's struggle with adulthood, her art, marraige and mothering, and ultimately depression.
