This is another in the kid's series of "Ellery Queen Jr" books, from 1961. In the previous "Jr" books, the main character was an Americanized version of Djuna, the Queen's middle/far eastern servant boy. In this one, the hero is Gulliver Queen, Ellery Queen's nephew(!) I guess Ellery's father Richard had another son who wasn't mentioned in 40 years of novels.
Anyway, Gulliver and his friend Fisty get into trouble at the pier on the Hudson after Ellery leaves town for a week. A mystery develops, and Gulliver has to solve it using the notes he's made in his trusty notebook.
As with the other childen's books in this series, I was bored. It was a relief when it ended.

You've known me for years. Please make your own Doug-style joke about "Fisty" now, and I will cover for you sometime if you need me to. |

Too obvious!
I confess, I snickered like an immature kid every time I saw the word "Fisty" in the text. |
