11 short stories, each beginning with "The Adventure of..." They don't have the depth of the novels, but are well written and charming. All adhere to the standard rules of fair play.
My favorite is "The Adventure of the Glass Domed Clock." The first paragraph states, "Anybody with common sense could have solved that crime. It's a basic as five minus four equals one." I've learned now that every time Ellery states something is "easy" you're in for an especially complicated and convoluted solution.
