I received this little book in the mail today (www.paperbackswap.com) and was surprised to find it smaller than expected. This essay of 84 pages presents "a vivid portrait of a debilitating disorder...the solace of shared experience." Styron carefully crafts a description of his psychological tailspin and ultimate recovery from depression.
Some say one in ten Americans will experience this slippery slope.... maybe more in varying degrees. It is so much more than being sad, not really something that people can just "get over." |
