The second in the "Song of Ice and Fire" series. Some of the questions from "A Game of Thrones" were duly answered. A LOT more questions were raised, and some things just left dangling.
Some of my frustrations continued. The storm of names I guess I'm supposed to remember continues to rain down. (And then, at what apparently was the book's climax, a flurry of ship names are thrown at me. If I ever ever ever ever have to know the name of that many ships, I'm an admiral.)
Things seemed to come out-of-nowhere. Events that happen right in front of the reader are the result of things that happened between chapters, and no one told me that until three chapters later. It was confusing and frustrating.
I'll continue the series, because I'm hooked, and I want to see who gets what's coming to them. But to be honest, I'm not totally sure who I'm rooting for anymore... _________________ I am a dirty liar. And I'm lying when I say that. |
