I was a Wrinkle in Time fan as a kid, so when I found out L'Engle had lots of other novels, I knew I wanted to try one. This particular novel is an emotional journey. The family of characters that the novel follows have many secrets, lies, and mysteries that come unraveled throughout. The book is set during the later years of the life of Camilla Dickinson Xanthakos, and you hear the story of her life from college to present.
The characters are realistic, meaning they are faulted but human and likeable. There is a theme of mercy for the wrongs that have been committed (mostly) unintentionally by family. The book describes a lovely beauty in this forgiveness. |
