I'm ashamed to be listing this here, but I'd like to have 28 listed by the end of the year, even if some of them are trashy junk fiction.

This is the first book in the "The Twilight Saga".

I haven't read any of the other vampire books out there, with the exception of the Anne Rice books and the Sonja Blue trilogy, so I have no idea how representative this is of the vampire romance genre.

In brief, the first novel of the series runs (more opr less) as follows:

Teenage girl moves to town and starts at a new high school.

In one of her classes, she gets put next to an odd boy who apparently hates her.

Odd boy, later on, turns out to be a vampire who is irresistibly attracted to her smell, and is just trying to avoid the (*gasp*) inevitable, so he won't hurt her. One of the "twists" is he belongs to a coven that doesn't prey on humans.

By the end of the book, after he's rescued her a time or two, they've declared their undying devotion to each other. She isn't a vampire (yet).

Somewhere in there is the usual teenage angst and adjusting to a new high school and social life and such.

*sigh*

I've been prepping my house to sell, and sorting and packing my belongings, and haven't had the time or focus to get into something more literary. Something this predictable and easy to read is a good way to escape for a little while. I can see why the series is a bestseller - the books don't require a high level of reading comprehension, or any critical thinking skills.

I got it for free for my Kindle, along with the other two the author has so far written - it was an "educational copy, not for resale etc etc". After reading this, and the second (to be reviewed next), and about 2/3rds of the third... I wouldn't pay for any of the ones she writes in the future.

You'll have a hard time getting to #28 if you miscount. Smile

This is your second number 9. You can renumber it 11 and make life really simple, or renumber it 10 and your review of "New Moon" #11.

Cheers!

The best vampire story, in my opinion, is fevre dream by George R.R. Martin. It is a cool story and you get wrapped up in it even before the first vampire appears.

The best one I know of is Penance by Stephen R. Donaldson. It's a short story, but it's great.

Stress is bad! Stop that! Now!

But don't feel stressed about stopping. That would be just as bad...
