Wow. It's hard to believe we were reviewing the same book. It seems that the things I dislike are what make you like Martin's writing, at least in this case. I haven't read much other Martin - just Tuf Voyaging - but I wasn't all that impressed with that one either.
You think Martin's a genius while I dislike (or at least wonder about the quality of) things things I've read by him.
I'm glad there are so many different kinds of people in the world, Ed, so we can all find something useful and entertaining. |

I'm a bit surprised at the avatar --- I would have thought the Australopithecus would have appeared at 10 books, with the first 9 meriting something like this _________________ Todd Eisworth

Ed, remember that Doug picks the avatars, and that you only get to keep this one for the first N book reviews. If you want your own, permanent avatar, you can add one via the profile page, as I did. (That's my Siberian husky, Danno.) Heck, you could save a copy of the Australopithecus image using your browser and upload that saved image as your permanent, personal avatar, so for a while it would show twice.
Todd, I have to agree that your suggested image would be a lot more primitive than Australopithecus. But I think I'd get really sick of looking at his ugly mug for much of the year! |
