32. The Golden Goose by Ellery Queen
It’s my birthday today (I’m 42) so I made sure to spend at least part of the day doing something that made me happy – in this case, cracking open a new Ellery Queen mystery. Unfortunately, this one seems phoned in. The author (Fletcher Flora) writes with a snide, slightly condescending attitude. I noticed this in another one of his EQ books (The Devil’s Cook) but it’s much worse here. It isn’t nearly as good as his “Blow Hot, Blow Cold.” If he doesn’t take any of this seriously, why should we?
I’m on a quest to see how many of these books I can acquire and read in one year. I own 48 of the 95 novels at present, and have read 26 of them (27%).
How far do you think I can get by Dec 31, 2006??? |

Happy Birthday Ed!
I'm pretty sure you can get all the EQ books by the end of the year. You're moving through them at an enormous rate. I am glad you're enjoying yourself!

Hey! Happy birthday!
Way to go doing something you love.
I really think we don't celebrate birthday's like we should as adults. I love the concept of them. _________________ I was born to speak all mirth and no matter. |
