31. Wife or Death by Ellery Queen
With only a short break for a meal, I read this in one sitting. This is one of the later pulp-fiction-y EQ novels, with one-off characters and a fast moving plot. I know I’m not “supposed” to like these as much as the formal early works, but I think I’m hooked on these 1950s/1960s EQ novels. It features a Hitchcock-like plot of an imperfect man falsely accused of killing his wife. The book was ghost-written by Richard Deming, whose “The Killer Touch” I also admired. |
