26. Halfway House by Ellery Queen

Written in 1936, this is one of the last Golden Age EQ novels. After the CHALLENGE TO THE READER, Ellery gives a typically brilliant, albeit lengthy, description of how he deduced the identity of the killer. It’s well done and I enjoyed myself, but I felt that the middle section in the courtroom was a little disjointed, as if it were lifted from another novel.
