20. Kill as Directed by Ellery Queen
It starts with a young man, just out of medical school starting a practice. He’s not getting the patients he expected and his investment capital is dwindling fast. Then, just in the nick of time, an old friend appears offering to extend him money and help out. The next thing I know, it’s 3 ½ hours later and my heart is racing as I read the past page.
I’m going to stop reading for a while. This is too intense.
My stack of Ellery Queen novels is getting shorter.
This makes me sad.
I’m going to have to go on ebay and buy some more. |

But Ed... why slow down now? Just six more and you'll have hit your 26 total for the year.
Do you remember last year, how you ended your last review (#25) with the comment that you read about 25 books in a year? It seems you might have made that statement on too little data. An average taken with just one data point isn't particularly useful, eh?
