Anakin, like most mammals, comes from two parents. Unlike most mammals, he comes from two parents that have absolutely rocked the cat world and brought it to its knees! Let's talk about them, shall we?
Nickleby, father of Anakin
Nickleby is the Selkirk Rex that other Selkirk Rex's pass by on the street and say, "Wow. That's some Selkirk Rex!" He is a TICA Supreme Grand Champion, which certainly sounds impressive even if you don't know what it means. (When you check out the definition, it goes from impressive to amazing.) In addition, he was the 10th best cat of the Great Lakes region in 96-97. Not just best Selkirk Rex, but best cat. Laurel and I got to meet Nickleby when we visited Nancy McMullen at her Oaktree Cattery. Boy, what a creepy cat. Maybe he was just sleepy, but when I walked in the room, he gave me a look like I've never gotten before. Oh, yes I did. Once when I had bright purple hair, I was visiting my mom in Georgia, and I went to a small rural gas station. The attendant gave me the look that Anakin's dad did. "I could kill you right now, boah, but your skinny ass just tain't worth the effort." This was a cat that, were it human, would be beating Anakin senseless for letting his beer get warm, and then going off and having sex with Anakin's sister.
Karakurl, mother of Anakin
We didn't get to meet Karakurl, but if she looks anything like her picture, I'm sure she is gorgeous. Feline stardom came to her early, when she was named the International TICA best Selkirk longhaired kitten, 97-98. (She was less than a year old when she had Anakin.) She was no slouch in adulthood either, given that she is currently a TICA Double Grand Champion, which is quite impressive, although not as impressive as being a TICA Supreme Grand Champion. In addition to giving Anakin to the world, she also gave us his brother, Adventure, and his sister, Fluffy. Adventure looks like Anakin, only a little less adorable and a little more lunkheaded. And Fluffy is... well... a knockout. Straight-haired, she looks a little like Basho, only more petite and very soft.
Nickleby, grandfather of Anakin
I wasn't just speaking theoretically about the incest. Nickleby is Karakurl's father as well as Anakin's, making Karakurl Anakin's half-sister as well as his mother. So, in addition to being Anakin's brother, Adventure is his nephew as well as his uncle. Anakin, being his uncle's brother becomes his own uncle, and we can also show he is his own nephew. So Adventure is his uncle's uncle, making him his grand-uncle, and we can show then that Anakin is his own grand-uncle, which isn't the same as being his own grandfather, but still quite odd. His pedigree is funny to look at.
